Scoglio Pan di Zucchero

A few kilometres from Iglesias there is the scenic road to Nebida and Masua, it allows to admire one of the best panoramic foreshortening on the isle and of the whole Mediterraranean. It is possible to stop off the nebida’s viewpoint. With a breathtaking panorama on the so-called “Portu Raffa” beach and the mastodontic limestone stack known with the name of “Pan di Zucchero”. Another characteristc is its rare morphology. It is based on the evolution from Cambrian schists to Ordovician conglomerate. This area is famous for its typical dark red coloration, it gives to the rock of thispatch a particular charm. Driving from the wide sandy shore of Funtanamare and going on towards Masua, there are a series of little creeks and inlets which are the ideal place to practice both diving and fishing or just to enjoy the sun.

Portu Banda is a little creek characterized by a rocky beach, chich is reachabke from the hamlet of Nebida.

Portu Raffa: it is possible to reach the beach of Portu Raffa by traking the track which is visible from the road to Nebida. Portu Raffa is located at the end of a little road, while the other beach, the so colled “Spiaggia dei Baci”, is wider than the forst one and it is reachable through a mining gallery.

Masua is enclosed by a wide range of rocky promontories. It is marked by mining activity. At the end of the cove there are the ruins which are evidence of a dock for the loading of minerals from the mines close by. Portu Cauli: just a little stretch of sea divides the beach of Masua from the beach of Portu Cauli. A confortable stairs lead down to the sandy shore of Portu cauli Beach. This beach is well loved by surfers. It is possible to book pleasant canoe and pedalò trips. It is located in front of an interesting surfacing rock callede Pan di Zucchero and nearby the visitable mine of Porto Flavia.
